Alcova Reservoir
General Information
Alcova Reservoir and its surrounding lands provide excellent water oriented recreational facilities and is the primary recreation area for Casper and the surrounding region. Sailboating and water skiing in summer and ice fishing in winter attract many visitors each year. Picnic areas, camp areas, and beach facilities are also popular.
Alcova Dam and Powerplant, features of the Kendrick Project, are on the North Platte River about 30 miles from Casper, Wyoming.
Facilities
The Alcova Reservoir covers 2,470 surface acres. Facilities include 6 campgrounds, 8 boat ramps, interpretive trail and marina concession. Available fish species include brown trout, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, and walleye. Rainbow and brown trout are stocked annually.
Dinosaur interpretive trail is located near
Cottonwood Creek Beach. A barrier-free fishing pier, restroom, and shelter are located at
Black Beach. Pathfinder Bird Refuge, Pathfinder Reservoir, and Seminoe Reservoir are nearby.
